Towing the vehicle with the driving wheels raised off the ground

As a general rule, vehicles must be towed with the driving wheels raised off the ground. If the vehicle cannot be towed with the driving wheels raised due to severe damage or other circumstances, use a tow truck (flatbed).

Towing a vehicle with a manual transmission
When towing the vehicle with the front wheels raised, make sure the parking brake is released.

When towing the vehicle with the rear wheels raised, make sure the transmission is in neutral. Also, make sure the ignition key is in the "ACC" (Accessory) position. This is necessary to prevent damage to the steering wheel lock mechanism, which is not designed to hold the front wheels straight during towing.

If any of the loaded wheel or suspension components are damaged, use a tow truck (flatbed) for towing.
Towing a vehicle with an automatic transmission

Towing the vehicle with an automatic transmission rear wheels up (backward) is prohibited

Do not tow a vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission rear wheels up (backward) with the rear wheels raised. This may cause serious damage to the transmission. If it is necessary to tow the vehicle front wheels up (backward), the front wheels must be placed on a tow dolly.

When towing the vehicle with the rear wheels raised, make sure the parking brake is released.

When towing the vehicle with all wheels on the road, it may only be towed front wheels forward. Make sure the transmission is in neutral. The towing speed must not exceed 50 km/h, and the towing distance must not exceed 25 km.

Make sure the steering wheel is unlocked, turn the ignition key to the "ACC" (Accessory) position. During towing, the driver must remain in the vehicle to steer it.
