Seat Belt Care
Do not remove or modify the seat belt system. In addition, make sure that the seat belts and related components are not damaged by seat hinges, doors, or improper use.
When returning the rear seatback to the upright position, be careful not to damage the seat belt webbing or buckle. Make sure you do not pinch or trap the seat belt webbing or buckle with the rear seat.
Periodic Seat Belt Inspection
It is recommended to periodically inspect all seat belts for cuts, wear, and fraying of the webbing, as well as cracks and deformation of metal parts. Replace defective seat belts as soon as possible.
Keep Seat Belts Clean and Dry
Seat belts must be kept clean and dry. If the seat belts become soiled, clean them with a neutral detergent dissolved in warm water. Do not attempt to bleach or re-dye the belts, or use strong detergents or abrasive materials to clean them, as this will damage them and weaken the webbing material.
When to Replace Seat Belts
After any accident, all seat belts, as well as the retractors and seat belt anchorage hardware, must be replaced. This must be done even if no visible damage to the seat belts is found.
