Economical Driving
By following these guidelines, you can save fuel and increase the driving range of your vehicle between refuelings:
– drive smoothly and avoid rapid acceleration. Try to drive at a constant speed and do not accelerate before stopping;
– try to keep up with the traffic flow to avoid unnecessary changes in speed. Whenever possible, avoid driving in heavy traffic conditions. Always keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead to avoid unnecessary braking. This also reduces brake pad wear;
– drive at a moderate speed. The higher the vehicle speed, the more fuel it consumes. Driving at a moderate speed, especially on highways, is one of the most effective ways to reduce fuel consumption;
– do not rest your foot on the brake pedal or clutch pedal. This increases fuel consumption and causes faster wear of these components. Moreover, keeping your foot on the brake pedal while driving will overheat the brakes and reduce their efficiency, which may lead to more serious consequences;
– monitor the tires of your vehicle and maintain the recommended tire air pressure. Incorrect tire pressure, either too low or too high, causes premature tire wear. Check the tire air pressure at least once a month;
– check wheel alignment angles, since incorrect wheel alignment can cause severe uneven wear in the form of spots ("bald patches") on the tread. It may also lead to increased tire wear and higher fuel consumption;
– do not carry unnecessary items in the vehicle;
– do not let the engine idle longer than necessary. If you are waiting for something (and are not in traffic), turn off the engine and restart it only when you are ready to drive;
– remember, a Hyundai vehicle does not require extended engine warm-up. As soon as the engine speed becomes stable, you can start driving; however, at very low ambient temperatures, allow the engine to warm up for a short time;
– do not "overload" the engine or allow the engine speed to increase excessively. Overloading the engine means driving too slowly in too high a gear. Shift to a lower gear.
– use the air conditioner rationally, since the air conditioning system is driven by engine power, so its use reduces fuel economy.
