Emergency Towing

~1min read

Before towing, check the automatic transmission fluid level. If it is below the "HOT" mark on the dipstick, add fluid. If you cannot add fluid, a tow dolly must be used.

For emergency towing, when a tow truck is not available, attach the tow strap to one of the towing hooks on the lower front of the vehicle. Do not attempt to tow the vehicle this way on an unpaved road. This may cause serious damage to the vehicle. Towing by this method must not be used if the wheels, suspension, axles, steering or brake components are damaged. Before towing, make sure the transmission is in neutral and the ignition key is in the "ACC" (Accessory) position (when the engine is off) or in the "ON" position (when the engine is running). During towing, the driver must remain in the vehicle to steer it.
