Driving in Winter Conditions
Severe operating conditions in winter cause faster wear of components and other problems. To minimize winter driving problems, follow the recommendations below.
Driving on Snow or Ice
Driving in deep snow may require winter tires or snow chains. If winter tires must be installed, select tires of the standard type and size. Failure to do so may adversely affect vehicle safety and handling. Fast driving, rapid acceleration, sudden braking, or sharp turns are very dangerous. When braking, make maximum use of engine braking. Hard braking on snowy or icy roads may cause the vehicle to skid. Keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead and press the brake pedal slowly. Note that snow chains will improve traction but will not prevent lateral skidding.
Using High-Quality Ethylene Glycol Coolant
Your Hyundai cooling system uses high-quality ethylene glycol coolant. Only this type of coolant should be added to the cooling system, as it prevents corrosion in the cooling system, lubricates the water pump, and has a low freezing point.
