Hood Position Adjustment
PROCEDURE
1. Adjust the hood position in the engine compartment opening by shifting the hinge plates in the required direction after loosening their fasteners.
2. To check the amount of displacement, outline the hinge plates with a marker.
3. Loosen the fasteners and move the hinges in the required direction (adjust slowly, in several steps, shifting the hinge plates a little at a time). Retighten the bolts, lower the hood, and check its alignment in the opening.

4. If necessary, adjust the position (vertically and horizontally) of the hood latch assembly on the radiator support panel so the hood closes securely and sits flush with the fender surfaces. To adjust the latch, outline the heads of the latch assembly mounting bolts with a marker or scribe, then loosen the bolts and shift the latch in the required direction. After adjustment, firmly tighten the mounting bolts.

5. Finally, adjust the position of the hood rubber bumpers on the radiator support panel so that the hood sits flush with the fenders when closed.
6. The hood latch assembly should be lubricated periodically (together with the hinges - see Section Hinge and Latch Maintenance) with lithium-based grease to prevent seizing and premature wear.
