Door Interior Trim Panel Removal and Installation

Wear gloves to protect your hands from cuts when working through the access openings in the door frame.
REMOVAL
PROCEDURE

1. On vehicles with manual window regulators, remove the window crank handle.

2. Remove the door lock switch knob.
3. To remove the inside door handle, remove the plastic cap and remove the single mounting screw. Release the handle assembly from the door panel and disconnect the actuating rod. On vehicles so equipped, disconnect the lock actuator wiring.

4. Remove the decorative cover from the outside rearview mirror base.

5. Remove the screws securing the interior trim panel, and the screw securing the armrest assembly, then carefully pull the panel toward you to release the retaining clips. Working around the perimeter of the panel, release all the clips one by one.

The clips are located deep enough under the edge of the panel that a standard trim panel removal tool must be used to pry it off.

6. Once all the clips have been released, disconnect all remaining electrical connectors and remove the panel from the door frame.

7. To gain access to the outside handle and window regulator located inside the door frame, remove the power window switch assembly (if equipped), the door panel mounting bracket and the speaker assembly (refer to Body Electrical System). Then carefully detach the plastic water shield.

INSTALLATION
PROCEDURE

1. Before installing the interior door trim panel, make sure all of its clips are in place and in good condition.
2. If equipped, connect the wiring to the door lock actuator and the power window control panel. Install the panel onto the door. Securely snap in all the clips. Install the inside handle assembly and secure it with the screw. Install the lock switch (if equipped)/storage pocket (tighten the retaining screw securely). Install the manual window regulator handle/power window control assembly.
