Door Adjustment
PROCEDURE
1. Correct door alignment in the body opening is critical for proper door assembly operation. First, check the play of the hinge pins. Fully open the door and move it up and down. If door play exceeds 1.6 mm, replace the hinges.

2. To adjust the door position in the body opening, loosen the hinge bolts on the vehicle body. The door is correctly positioned when, in the closed position, its upper edge is parallel to the roof edge; the front edge (rear edge on the rear door) should be flush with the fender surface, and the lower edge with the sill plane. If the position cannot be achieved by simply shifting the hinges, select shims of the required thickness. Shims are installed under the hinge plates (both on the body and on the door) and can be purchased at automotive accessory stores.

3. Proper operation of the latch mechanism can be achieved by adjusting the vertical position of the striker. To assess the amount of offset, trace the striker base plate with a marker. Loosen the fasteners and make the necessary adjustment so that the latch engages the center of the striker.
4. Finally, adjust the horizontal position of the striker. The closed door should be flush with the surface of the rear pillar/quarter panel and latch properly.
