Front Bumper Cover Removal and Installation

The vehicles covered in this Manual are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). Before performing any work near the airbag module, steering column, or instrument panel, disable the SRS to prevent injury from accidental deployment (see Section Body Electrical System). SRS wiring can be easily identified by its yellow insulation.

PROCEDURE

1. Apply the parking brake, raise the vehicle and support it on stands.
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery and wait at least two minutes before removing the cover.

If the installed audio system is equipped with an anti-theft code, make sure you have the correct code to activate the audio system before disconnecting the battery!
3. Under the vehicle, remove the screws securing the lower edge of the bumper cover.

Use a small screwdriver to pry up the center sections of the plastic retainers (do not attempt to fully remove the center sections - they remain in the retainer).

4. Remove the screws securing the upper edge of the cover to the hood latch support. Remove the cover from the vehicle.

5. Install in the reverse order of removal. Before tightening the threaded fasteners, make sure the plastic retainers are fully engaged. If necessary, use an assistant.
