Unleaded Gasoline

Hyundai vehicles require unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 RON (Research Octane Number, "Normal") or higher. Use of leaded gasoline will damage the catalytic converter and emission control systems. It may also increase vehicle maintenance costs. To prevent refueling with leaded fuel, the fuel filler neck is designed so that only the reduced-diameter nozzle used for unleaded fuel can be inserted.

Some countries receive Hyundai vehicles that are capable of running on leaded fuel. If you intend to use leaded fuel, consult your authorized Hyundai dealer about whether leaded fuel can be used in your vehicle. The octane rating of leaded gasoline is the same as that of unleaded gasoline.

The Hyundai new vehicle warranty does not cover damage to the fuel system or loss of engine performance caused by the use of methanol or fuel containing methanol.

Environmentally Friendly Fuels

To reduce air pollution, Hyundai recommends the use of fuel containing detergent additives that help prevent deposit buildup in the engine. Such fuel will help the engine run cleaner and improve the performance of the emission control systems.
