To fasten the seat belt, pull it out of the retractor and insert the tongue plate (latch plate) into the buckle until it clicks.

Latching the Seat Belt Buckle

The seat belt automatically selects the required length only after you manually adjust the lap belt so that it fits snugly over your hips. Once the belt is worn, it automatically follows the slow movements of your body, but in the event of a sudden or strong jerk, the belt automatically locks to restrain the occupant. The belt will also lock if you pull it forward sharply. Check that the belt buckle is securely latched and that the belt is not twisted.
