Seat Belt Adjustment

~1min read

Never wear the lap belt across the abdomen. In a collision, the belt may ride up sharply into the abdomen and increase the risk of injury. When the belt is positioned too high, there is a greater risk of sliding under the belt in a traffic accident or during sudden braking. This may result in damage to the vehicle, serious injury or death. Both hands must not be under or over the belt at the same time. One hand must be under and the other over the belt, as shown in the illustration. Never route the shoulder belt under the arm closest to the door.
