Rear Brake Pad Inspection

Remove or disconnect:

PROCEDURE.

1. Raise the vehicle.

2. Remove the plugs from the inspection holes in the brake backing plates.

Inspection

PROCEDURE.

Visually check the thickness of the rear drum brake shoe linings through the

inspection holes in the brake backing plates. Install the plugs back in place.

If the shoes cannot be checked through the inspection holes, remove the wheels and brake drums and measure the lining thickness.

Measure

PROCEDURE.

Minimum brake lining thickness: at least 0.5 mm above the rivet heads. WARNING.

Worn shoes must be replaced only as a complete set.

Installation

PROCEDURE.

1. Brake drum and locking screw (if removed).

2. Wheels (if removed).

3. Lower the vehicle.
