Brake Proportioning Valves (Pressure Regulating Valves)

GENERAL INFORMATION

Proportioning Valve Markings

Remove or disconnect:

Warning.

Since the valves are calibrated in pairs, they must be replaced only as a

set.

Replace reservoir cover 1 having the level sensor with a standard threaded cap so that

the warning lamp on the instrument panel does not illuminate.

PROCEDURE.

1. Brake lines from proportioning valves

2. Unscrew valves 10 from brake master cylinder body 5.

Installation

Warning.

Before installing valves 10, make sure they have identical

body markings, see Fig. Proportioning Valve Markings.

PROCEDURE.

1. Thread valves 10 into body

5. Tighten valves 10 to torque of 20–25 N·m.

2. Connect brake lines to valves

10. Tighten brake line fittings to torque of 12–18

N·m (When checking 16 N·m).

3. Bleed air from the hydraulic system.

4. Check hydraulic system for leaks.

5. Check brake fluid level.

6. Remove the service cap and install the reservoir cover with level sensor.
