BRAKE DISC THICKNESS VARIATION INSPECTION

Measure

PROCEDURE.

1. Measure the thickness at four or more points around the circumference of the disc. All measurements must be taken at the same distance from the outer edge of the disc.

2. If the disc thickness variation between measurement points exceeds 0.01

mm, brake pedal pulsation and front-end vibration may occur during braking. A worn disc that does not meet this requirement must be resurfaced or replaced with a new one.

BRAKE DISC LATERAL RUNOUT INSPECTION. A. DIAL INDICATOR.

10. BRAKE CALIPER (FRONT RIGHT WHEEL).

16. BRAKE DISC

PROCEDURE.

1. Place the transmission in Neutral.

2. Raise the vehicle..

3. Remove the front wheels. Mark the position of the wheels relative to the hubs.

4. Secure the brake disc to the hub with two wheel bolts.

5. Install a dial indicator on the brake caliper.

6. Position the indicator probe approximately 10 mm from the outer edge of the disc.

The probe must be perpendicular to the disc surface and pressed against the disc with light

force. Maximum allowable lateral runout is 0.1 mm. If runout exceeds the specified value, check the cleanliness and seating of the mating surfaces of the disc and hub, and check the friction surface of the disc for scoring.

7. Remove the indicator.

8. Remove the wheel bolts.

9. Install the front wheels and tighten the wheel bolts to 90 N·m.

10. Lower the vehicle.
