PROCEDURE.

1. Adjust the drum brake assemblies..

2. Fully release the parking brake lever..

3. Raise the vehicle and secure it properly..

4. Check the free movement of the parking brake cable..

5. Unscrew the heat shield mounting bolts and move the heat shield aside..

6. Tighten the self-locking equalizer mounting nut until the rear wheels turn with difficulty..

7. Loosen the self-locking equalizer mounting nut slightly to release the rear wheels. The parking brake adjustment can be checked by the position of the actuating lever as follows..

7a. Remove plug 1 from the hole in the brake backing plate

7b. The parking brake actuating lever should be approximately 3 mm away from the rear brake shoe web.
