Removal
Mark the position of the rear wheels relative to the wheel hub with paint.
This allows the balanced wheel to be refitted in the same position. Loosen the wheel bolts. The vehicle must be standing on the ground.
Raise the front of the vehicle on stands and remove the rear wheels.

Release the handbrake lever. Loosen the adjusting nut for the handbrake cable.
Mark the brake drum and wheel hub with a felt-tip pen or chalk line. This allows the brake drum to be reinstalled in the same position.

Remove the 2 bolts - 2 - from the brake drum - 1 - and take it off. If the drum is seized to the wheel hub, loosen the brake drum by tapping lightly with a plastic or rubber hammer.

Unhook the upper and lower return springs from the brake shoes. To unhook them, use pipe pliers or a commercially available brake spring pliers, e.g. Hazet-797.

Unhook left return spring -7-.

Remove the 2 brake shoe hold-down pins. To do so, press the spring plate against the brake shoe with combination pliers against the spring force, turn the spring plate 90° to the left or right and unhook it from the hold-down pin.
At the same time, hold the hold-down pin from the rear on the brake carrier by hand. Relax the hold-down spring and remove it together with the spring plate and hold-down pin.

Press both brake shoes - 1 - off the wheel brake cylinder - 2 - and remove them, taking care not to damage the dust boots - 3 -. Then lift the brake shoes off the lower support - 4 - at the bottom.

Swivel the rear brake shoe -c- down by 90° and unhook the parking brake cable -a- from the brake lever -b-.
To do this, push the spring back with pliers and unhook the nipple from the brake shoe.
