Adjust the tailgate
The tailgate is adjusted at the hinges without the lock installed.
Close the tailgate and check the gap all around to the adjacent components. The gap must be parallel.
For gap dimensions, see page 200.

Unscrew the hinge covers from the roof lining.
Loosen the hinge bolts and align the tailgate with the adjacent components. The arrows show the possible adjustment directions.
After adjustment, tighten the hinge bolts.
Note: The contact surfaces of the hinges on the body are sealed with an acrylic adhesive. After alignment, remove the old sealant and apply new sealant around the circumference of the hinge, for example Fiat acrylic sealant type IVI 854.210.
Bolt on the tailgate lock.

Unscrew the rear luggage compartment trim, press out the clips with a suitable lever -1- and remove the trim.

Loosen the bolts for the striker plate. The arrows show the possible adjustment directions.
Carefully close the tailgate, thereby moving the striker plate into the correct position.
Carefully open the tailgate so the striker plate cannot shift, and tighten the striker plate bolts.

Adjust the tailgate surface to the same height as the adjacent components. To do so, turn the rubber stops in or out as required.
Screw the hinge cover to the roof lining.
Close the tailgate. The lock must engage and close securely without excessive force.
Install the rear luggage compartment trim, tighten the bolts and press in the clips.
