Removing and installing tailgate lock cylinder

Remove the tailgate interior trim, see "Remove and install the tailgate".

Unscrew the lock cylinder from inside and pull it out slightly.

Unhook the connecting rod from the lock and remove the lock cylinder.

Insert the key into the lock cylinder, lift off the retaining spring with a screwdriver and pull the lock cylinder out of the housing. Caution: the key must remain in the lock cylinder so the locking plates cannot fall out.

Insert the lock cylinder into the housing and secure it with the spring washer. Remove the key.

Install the lock cylinder on the tailgate and hook the connecting rod onto the lock.

Secure the lock cylinder with 2 screws.

Install the inner trim panel for the tailgate.
