Adjusting door striker bolt

~1min read

The locking mechanism is set so that, with the door closed, the door seals are under compression, preventing draughts and rainwater from entering and preventing rattling noises.

Over time, the rubber seals can settle somewhat, which can cause the faults listed above. In this case, and if necessary after installing the door, adjust the door striker bolt.

Caution: spacers may also be required for correct adjustment of the striker bolt.

  • Loosen the mounting bolts - 1 - for the door striker bolt just enough so that the striker bolt can be moved with some force. Before doing so, mark the installed position of the striker plate - 2 - with a felt-tip pen.

  • Push the bolt slightly inward and retighten.

  • If the door has been newly installed, close the door carefully so that the loosened striker bolt moves into the correct position.

  • Open the door carefully so the striker bolt does not shift. Tighten the bolt in this position.

  • Close the door; the door lock must engage without excessive force.
