PROCEDURE
1. On vehicles with a manual transmission, shift the gear selector lever to the "N" (Neutral) position and depress the clutch pedal. On vehicles with an automatic transmission, move the selector lever to the "P" (Park) position.

Make sure the clutch pedal is fully depressed before starting the engine on a vehicle with a manual transmission. Otherwise, if the vehicle lurches forward or backward when the engine starts, it may cause damage or injury to persons located outside the vehicle.

2. Turn the ignition key to the "START" position. Release the key when the engine starts. If the engine does not start on the first attempt, do not keep the starter engaged for more than 15 seconds. Wait a few seconds before the next attempt.
