Side Airbag
The side airbag is located on the side of the front seatbacks. The purpose of this airbag is to provide additional protection for the driver and/or front passenger in addition to the seat belts. Side airbags deploy only in certain side impacts, depending on their severity, angle, speed and location. Side airbags do not deploy in all side impacts.

Location of side airbag impact sensors
For best protection by the side airbag and to avoid injury, front occupants must sit upright with the seat belt properly fastened. The driver's hands should rest on the steering wheel at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions. The passenger's hands should rest on their lap.
Do not use aftermarket seat covers, as they may reduce or negate the effectiveness of the system.
Do not install accessories on or near the side airbag.
Do not apply excessive force to the side of the seat.
Do not place any objects on or between yourself and the airbag.
Do not place any objects (such as an umbrella or bag) between the front door and the seat. Such objects may be hazardous and may cause injury if the side airbag deploys.
To avoid unintended side airbag deployment, which may cause injury, avoid striking the side airbag sensor while the ignition is on.
