Luggage Compartment Lid (Coupe and Hatchback)

Removal and installation

PROCEDURE

1. Raise the lid and secure it with a prop.

2. On coupe and 5-door hatchback vehicles, loosen the lock nut, unscrew the hinge stud and remove the hinge.

3. On 3-door hatchback, remove the two bracket bolts.

4. Press lightly on the strut and, without letting it extend, remove the strut from the lid.

5. Remove the bolts and disconnect the strut from the body.

6. Install the strut in reverse order.

Luggage Compartment Lid

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

2. Remove the inner lid panel.

3. Disconnect and mark all connectors.

4. Pull the connectors and wiring out of the lid, tying to the cord and removing the grommet. Leave the cord in the lid.

5. Disconnect the hose from the washer nozzle and remove the hose, tying it to the cord.

7. Ask an assistant to hold the lid.

8. Mark the position of the hinges relative to the lid.

9. Disconnect the strut from the lid.

10. Remove the bolts and remove the lid.

11. Install the lid in reverse order.

12. Pull the wiring and hose into the lid, tying them to the cord.

13. Do not fully tighten the hinge bolts.

Adjustment

PROCEDURE

1. Carefully close the lid and check the gaps between the lid and adjacent panels. The lid is adjusted by moving it in the hinge holes with the bolts loosened. After adjustment, tighten the bolts.

2. Check the operation of the lid latch; if necessary, adjust by moving it with the bolts loosened, then tighten the bolts after adjustment.
