Removal and installation

PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

2. Remove the steering column covers (refer to subsection 13.26).

3. Disconnect the connector from the ignition switch, remove the headless screw at the rear of the switch, then remove the switch.

4. To remove the locking lock assembly with the ignition switch, drill out the two shear bolts (indicated by arrows) and remove both halves of the lock from the column. The locking lock is non-serviceable.

5. Install in the reverse order of removal.

6. Install new screws and tighten until the heads break off.
