Front Wheel Hub Bearings
Replacement
PROCEDURE
1. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on stands.
2. Remove the wheel.
3. Remove the wheel and caliper.
4. Remove the speed sensor (on vehicles with ABS).
5. Remove the wiring bracket bolts and move the sensor aside.
6. Disconnect the driveshaft from the hub only, move it aside and secure it (see subsection 10.2).

7. Remove the two strut-to-steering knuckle nuts (indicated by arrows), remove the bolts and disconnect the strut.
8. Remove the cotter pins and loosen the nuts. Press the ball joint and tie rod end out of the knuckle bores.
9. Press the hub out of the bearing. One inner race should remain on the hub.
10. Press the bearing outer race off the hub.
11. Remove the outer oil seal.
12. Remove the inner oil seal.
13. Remove the snap ring from the knuckle bearing bore.
14. If the remaining race is loose, remove the race.
15. Press the bearing out of the knuckle using a mandrel of suitable diameter that bears only on the outer part of the bearing.
16. When pressing out, support the rear of the knuckle.
17. The bearing can also be driven out by striking the installed inner race through a tubular drift.
Installation
PROCEDURE
1. Before installing a new bearing, thoroughly clean the inner surface of the knuckle.
2. Press in the outer bearing race, supporting the drift only on the outer edge. Do not lubricate the outside of the race to ease pressing.
3. Install the snap ring into the groove in the knuckle bore.
4. Pack grease into the seal cavity and carefully press in the seal from the outer side of the steering knuckle.
5. Install the support for the outer part of the knuckle.
6. Pack grease into the seal and press the seal in from the inner side of the knuckle.
7. Support the inner bearing race securely, then carefully press the hub into the knuckle.
8. Check that the hub rotates freely.
9. Install the driveshaft and tighten the nut to the specified torque.
10. Install the brake disc and caliper.
11. Connect the lower arm ball joint, install a new nut and tighten to the specified torque.
12. Secure the nut with a new cotter pin.
13. Install the strut, using new bolts and nuts.
14. Tighten the bolts and nuts to the specified torque.
15. Connect the tie rod, using a new nut and cotter pin.
