Power Steering Pump

Removal

PROCEDURE

1. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on stands.

2. Remove the pump drive belt.

3. Remove the high-pressure line union bolt and disconnect the hose from the pump.

4. Drain the fluid.

5. Disconnect the return line fitting.

6. Remove the bolts and the tensioner bracket.

7. Rotate the pump pulley until one of the pulley holes lines up with the adjusting bolt.

8. Remove the adjusting bolt nut and washers.

9. Hold the pump and remove the adjusting bolt, then remove the pump.

10. On some vehicles, remove the bracket bolts and lower the pump out of the vehicle.

Installation

PROCEDURE

1. Install the pump in the reverse order of removal.

2. Replace the high-pressure line fitting gaskets and adjust the belt tension.
