If your Hyundai is equipped with a manual transmission, shift the gear selector lever to neutral and fully depress the clutch pedal.

If your Hyundai is equipped with an automatic transmission, move the selector lever to the "P" (Park) position.

To start the engine, insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to the "START" position. Release the key immediately after the engine starts. Do not hold the ignition key in the "START" position for more than 15 seconds.

For safety, the engine cannot be started unless the automatic transmission selector is in the "P" (Park) or "N" (Neutral) position (automatic transmission models only).
