Start the engine by turning the ignition key to the START position. The engine will crank with the starter until you release the key, which will automatically return to the ON position. In this position the brake system warning lamp also illuminates to check the lamp operation. If the ignition key is difficult to turn to the START position, this may be caused by the steering shaft pressing on the anti-theft lock. To turn the key, turn the steering wheel left and right to relieve the pressure on the lock, then turn the key.

Do not hold the ignition key in the "START" position for more than 15 seconds.
