Removal

Belt routing without air conditioning: 1 - alternator; 2 - power steering pump; 3 - automatic belt tensioner; 4 - crankshaft; 5 - V-ribbed belt.

Belt routing with air conditioning: 1 - alternator; 2 - power steering pump; 3 - automatic belt tensioner; 4 - crankshaft; 5 - idler pulley; 6 - air conditioning compressor; 7 - V-ribbed belt.

  • Unscrew protective cover for power steering pump from above, - ,

Speziell 1,4-l-motor

  • Release and remove the V-ribbed belt by turning the centre screw - 1 - of the belt tensioner to the left.

    When turning the centre screw, the tension of the inner spring of the belt tensioner is reduced.

    The belt tensioner pivots in the direction of the arrow.

Installation

  • Fit the V-ribbed belt, relieving the belt tensioner by turning centre screw - 1 - to the left.

Caution: the preloaded spring of the belt tensioner ensures correct belt tension after a few engine revolutions.

  • Fit the protective cover for the power steering pump.
