Removal
Speziell 1,8-l-motor

Belt routing: 1 - alternator; 2 - automatic belt tensioner; 3 - crankshaft; 4 - air conditioning compressor; 5 - idler pulley; 6 - power steering pump; 7 - V-ribbed belt.

Note: on versions without air conditioning, pulleys - 4 - and - 5 - are omitted.

Speziell 1,8-l-motor

  • Release the V-ribbed belt by loosening the centre screw of the belt tensioner in the direction of the arrow, then remove the belt.

    When loosening the centre screw, the tension of the inner spring of the belt tensioner is reduced.

Installation

  • Fit the V-ribbed belt, relieving the belt tensioner by turning centre screw - 1 - to the left.

Caution: the preloaded spring of the belt tensioner ensures correct belt tension after a few engine revolutions.
