Wiper Blade Inspection and Replacement
(every 12,000 km [7500 miles] or every 6 months)
PROCEDURE
1. Check the condition of the windshield wiper assemblies regularly in accordance with the vehicle maintenance schedule. Inspect the blades for mechanical damage, signs of loose components, and wear of the rubber wiping elements.
2. Road film gradually builds up on the wiper blade contact surfaces, which significantly reduces wiper effectiveness. Regularly clean the blades with a medium-strength cleaning solution.
3. During wiper operation, fasteners may gradually loosen on their own. Check the security and tightness of the fasteners regularly.
4. If cracks or signs of wear are found on the rubber wiping elements, replace the wiper blades.
5. Lift the wiper arm away from the glass.

6. Press the locking tab inward and carefully remove the blade from the hook at the end of the arm.

7. If the wiper element needs to be replaced, squeeze the locking tabs at the end of the blade firmly, then grasp the element and pull it out of the metal frame.

8. Remove the metal retainers from the old rubber element and install them in the grooves of the new element.
9. Insert the element into the frame, making sure the locking tabs snap into place securely.
10. Install the blade onto the wiper arm and engage it in the hook, making sure the locking tab snaps into place securely.
