The parking brake is operated by the lever located between the front seats. Pull the lever up to its full travel, counting the number of ratchet clicks. If the number of clicks is outside the permissible range (see Specifications), adjust the parking brake linkage (see Brakes chapter).

Alternatively, check the parking brake operation by parking the vehicle on a downhill slope and holding it stationary with the parking brake while the transmission is in neutral. If the brake does not hold the vehicle when the lever is applied to the specified number of clicks, adjust the system (see Brakes chapter).
