Air Conditioning Filter Replacement
(every 48,000 km [30,000 miles] or 24 months)
The vehicles covered in this Manual are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), commonly known as the air bag system. Before performing any work in the area of the impact sensors, steering column or instrument panel, always disable the SRS to prevent accidental air bag deployment, which may result in serious injury (see Chapter Body Electrical).
PROCEDURE
1. The models covered are equipped with two elements that filter the air supplied to the cabin by the A/C system. The filters are located in a housing near the A/C evaporator, on the right side under the instrument panel.
2. Remove the glove box assembly (see Chapter Body).

3. Remove the three retaining screws and the glove box stiffener.

4. Release the lower retaining clip and remove the cover from the A/C filter housing.

5. Remove the lower filter element from the housing first, then the upper element.

6. Release the old filters from their holders and replace them with new ones.
7. Installation is the reverse of removal.
