Driveshaft Boot Condition Check
PROCEDURE
1. The corrugated rubber boots installed on both ends of each drive shaft protect the constant velocity joints (CV joints) from damage caused by dirt entering them. Oil and grease on the boot surface may cause premature boot failure. It is advisable to periodically wash the boots with a soapy water solution. Due to constant flexing during steering, the outer CV joint boots wear faster and must be checked more often and regularly.

2. Carefully inspect the boots for cuts, cracks and other damage, and check that the clamps securing them are secure. If defects or signs of grease leakage are found, replace the damaged boot (refer to the Clutch and Drive Shafts chapter).
