This section describes the power windows and mirrors of the Ford Mustang (6th generation). The windows feature one-touch operation, pinch protection, and remote operation with the key. The outside mirrors are also power-adjustable and optionally heated. This combines comfort with precise engineering in the Mustang.

Power Windows

WARNINGS

Never leave children unattended in the vehicle or allow them to operate the power windows. They could suffer serious injury.

Before using the power windows to close the windows, make sure there are no obstructions and that children and pets are a safe distance from the window opening.

Note: A pulsating noise may be heard when only one window is open. If this occurs, slightly open the window on the opposite side.

Note: Use the combined control (if equipped) to open both rear windows.

To open the window, press the window switch.

To close the window, pull the window switch up.

One-Touch Down

Press the window switch fully down and release it. Press or pull the switch again to stop the window.

One-Touch Up

Pull the window switch fully up and release it. Press or pull the switch again to stop the window.

Pinch Protection

The window stops automatically and moves a short distance in the opposite direction if it detects an obstruction while closing.

Overriding Pinch Protection

WARNING

If pinch protection is overridden, the window does not automatically reverse after contacting an obstruction. Use caution when closing the windows to avoid injury and vehicle damage.

Pull the window switch up and hold it for two seconds until the window reaches the pinch protection position. The window then moves up without pinch protection. The window stops if you release the switch before it is fully closed.

Delayed Accessory Power

The window switches can still be used for several minutes after the ignition is switched off, or until either front door is opened.

Central Locking

The windows can be operated with the remote control while the ignition is switched off.

Note: You can enable or disable this function in the information display, or contact an authorized dealer. See General Information.

Note: To use this function, delayed accessory power must not be active.

Opening the Windows

You can open the windows shortly after unlocking your vehicle with the remote control. After unlocking your vehicle, press and hold the unlock button on the remote control to open the windows. Release the button after the movement has started. Press the lock or unlock button to stop the movement.

Exterior mirrors

Power-Adjustable Outside Mirrors

WARNING

Never adjust the mirrors while driving.

A Left Mirror

B Adjustment Switch

C Right Mirror

Adjusting a mirror:

  1. Select the mirror to be adjusted. The control illuminates.
  2. Adjust the position of the mirror.
  3. Press the mirror switch again.

Foldaway Outside Mirrors

Press the mirror toward the door window. When unfolding the mirror, make sure it locks properly back into its original position.

Power Folding Mirrors

Press the button to fold the mirror toward the window. Press the button again to fold the mirror back to its original position.

Loose Mirror

If the power folding mirrors are adjusted manually, they may no longer function correctly, even after being repositioned. They must be reset in the following cases:

  • The mirrors vibrate while driving.
  • The mirrors feel loose.
  • The mirrors do not stay in the folded-in or folded-out position.
  • One of the mirrors is not in its normal driving position.

To reset the power folding function, unfold the mirrors using the power folding mirror button. A loud noise may be heard when the power folding mirrors reset. This noise is normal. Repeat this procedure whenever the mirrors have been adjusted manually.

Heated Mirrors

See Heated Windows and Mirrors.

Mirror Turn Signal Indicators

The outer part of the corresponding mirror housing flashes when the turn signal is activated.

Interior Mirror

WARNING

Never adjust the mirror while driving.

Note: Never clean the mirror housing or glass with abrasive cleaners, gasoline, or other cleaners containing mineral oil or

ammonia.

You can adjust the interior mirror as desired. In addition to the standard pivot point, this mirror also has a second pivot point that allows you to tilt the mirror up or down or from left to right.

Automatic-Dimming Mirror

Note: Never cover the sensors on the front and back of the mirror. Otherwise, mirror performance may be affected. A passenger in the rear seat or a raised center rear head restraint may also block light from reaching the sensor.

To reduce glare, the mirror automatically dims when it detects bright lights from behind your vehicle.

It automatically returns to normal reflection when you shift into reverse (R) to ensure a clear view when reversing.

Sun visors

Swing the sun visor toward the side window and pull out the rear edge to get more shade.

Illuminated vanity mirror

Open the cover to turn on the light.
