Wiper/Washer System
The wiper and washer system of the Ford Mustang (6th Generation) impresses with automatic adaptation to driving conditions. The rain sensor automatically activates the windshield wipers when needed, including individually adjustable sensitivity. Even in winter conditions, these systems ensure clear visibility. The interaction with the lighting underlines the well-considered technical integration. Whether short showers or heavy snowfall, visibility always remains optimal.
Windscreen wipers
Note: Before switching on the windshield wipers in frost, completely defrost the windshield.
Note: Make sure to switch off the windshield wipers before driving through a car wash.
Note: Clean the front wiper blades if they leave streaks or smears. If cleaning does not help, replace the wiper blades.
Note: Do not switch on the windshield wipers when the windshield is dry.
Otherwise, the glass may be scratched, the wiper blades may be damaged, or the wiper motor may burn out. Always operate the windshield washer before switching on the wipers on a dry windshield.

A Single wipe function
B Intermittent wiper operation
C Normal wiper speed
D High wiper speed
Intermittent Operation

A Shortest wipe interval
B Intermittent wiper operation
C Longest wipe interval.
Use the rotary control to adjust the wipe intervals.
Speed-Sensitive Wipers
As vehicle speed increases, the wiper intervals become shorter.
Automatic Wiper System
This function uses a rain sensor. It is located near the interior rearview mirror.
The rain sensor monitors the amount of moisture on the windshield and automatically activates the wipers. It adjusts the wiper speed to the amount of moisture detected on the windshield. You can turn this function on and off using the information display. See General Information.

A High sensitivity
B On
C Low sensitivity
Use the rotary control to set the sensitivity of the rain sensor. Six sensitivity settings are available. If you set a low sensitivity (first position), the wipers activate only when the rain sensor detects a large amount of moisture on the windshield. If you set a high sensitivity (sixth position), the wipers activate when the rain sensor detects a small amount of moisture on the windshield.
Keep the outside of the windshield clean. The rain sensor is very sensitive. If the area around the mirror is dirty, the wipers may activate when dirt particles, fog droplets or insects strike the windshield.
In wet conditions and in winter conditions (ice, snow, road salt slush), the wipers may skip, jerk suddenly or leave streaks. To keep the windshield clear, you can take the following measures:
- Reduce the sensitivity of the automatic wiper system to reduce streaking.
- Switch to normal or high wiper speed.
- Switch off the automatic wiper system.
Note: If the automatic headlight system is on together with the automatic wiper system, the low beam headlights switch on automatically as soon as the rain sensor switches the front wipers to normal speed.
Windscreen washer system
Note: Do not operate the washer system when the washer reservoir is empty. This may cause the washer pump to overheat.

To operate the windshield washer, pull the lever toward you.
The wiper and washer system of the Ford Mustang (VI Gen, 2014–2023) offers smart features for clear visibility in any weather. With rain sensor, variable intermittent wiper control and speed-dependent adjustment, the Ford Mustang 2014–2023 is well prepared for all conditions and enhances driving safety.
The combination of automatic headlights and the rain sensor is particularly practical, supporting the driver in difficult visibility conditions. The Ford Mustang VI Generation shows how modern technology combines comfort and safety.
Frequently Asked Questions
