Traction Control
Traction Control on the Ford Mustang (6th Gen) prevents loss of traction through targeted braking and engine intervention. This chapter describes system behavior on slippery road surfaces and provides guidance on temporarily turning the system off, for example in snow or mud. It also explains the meaning of warning lights and how the system works together with Stability Control. Drivers who enjoy spirited driving but still value safety will benefit from this clear overview.
Function Description
Traction Control helps prevent wheel spin and loss of traction.
If the vehicle begins to skid, the system brakes each individual wheel and, if necessary, reduces engine power at the same time. If the wheels spin when accelerating on a slippery or unpaved surface, the system reduces engine power to improve traction.
Using Traction Control
WARNING
The Stability Control and Traction Control indicator light stays on when the system detects a fault. Make sure Traction Control has not been turned off manually with the switch. If the Stability Control and Traction Control indicator light remains on, have the system serviced by an authorized dealer immediately.
If you drive the vehicle with Traction Control turned off, there is a higher risk of losing control of the vehicle, which may result in a rollover and serious or fatal injury.
The system turns on automatically each time the ignition is switched on.
If your vehicle becomes stuck in mud or snow, it may help to turn off Traction Control to allow the wheels to spin.
Note: When you turn off Traction Control, Stability Control remains fully active.
Turning the System Off

The Stability Control and Traction Control switch is located in the instrument panel.
When you turn the system off, a message and an indicator symbol are shown in the instrument cluster.
Press the switch again to return Traction Control to normal operation.
Your vehicle may have MyKey restrictions for this feature. See Function Description.
