Emergency equipment. Hazard warning lights. Fuel shut-off
In an emergency, the Ford Mustang's hazard warning lamp and fuel shut-off system provide reliable support. The position and function of the hazard warning lights are described, as are the storage locations of the first-aid kit and warning triangle. In the event of a collision, the vehicle automatically interrupts the fuel supply to minimize the risk of fire. The instructions for restarting after a collision help the driver reactivate the system correctly and continue the journey safely.
Hazard warning lights
Note: The hazard warning lights work when the ignition is in any position or the key is not in the ignition switch. Using them with the engine off will drain the battery. This can result in insufficient battery power remaining to start the engine.
The hazard warning light switch is located in the instrument panel, near the radio.
Use the hazard warning lights if your vehicle breaks down and becomes a possible hazard to other road users.
- Press the hazard warning light switch to activate all front and rear turn signals.
- Press the hazard warning light switch again to turn them off.
First-aid kit
The first-aid kit can be stored under the front passenger seat or in the luggage compartment.
Warning triangle
The warning triangle can be stored under the front passenger seat.
Fuel shut-off
WARNING
Ignoring fuel leaks after a collision increases the risk of fire. There is also a risk of serious injury. Ford Motor Company recommends always having the fuel system inspected by a Ford authorized dealer after a collision.
In the event of a moderate to severe collision, the vehicle's fuel pump shut-off interrupts the fuel supply to the engine.
Not every impact will cause a shut-off.
If the fuel shut-off has been triggered after a collision, the vehicle can be restarted. For vehicles with a push-button start:
- Press the START/STOP button to switch off the ignition.
- Press the brake pedal, then press the START/STOP button to switch on the ignition.
- Take your foot off the brake or clutch pedal and press the START/STOP button to switch off the ignition.
- Press the brake or clutch pedal and the START/STOP button, or switch on the ignition by pressing only the START/STOP button without pressing the brake or clutch pedal.
Note: When starting the vehicle after a fuel shut-off, the various systems are checked to determine whether a safe restart is possible. If the check shows that the systems are safe, the vehicle can be restarted.
Note: If the vehicle still cannot be started on the third attempt, contact an authorized dealer.
