WARNINGS
Never overfill the fuel tank. Pressure in an overfilled tank can cause leaks and result in fuel spray and fire.
The fuel system may be under pressure. If a whistling noise occurs near the fuel filler neck, wait until the noise stops before refueling. Otherwise, fuel could spray out and cause serious injury.
Fuels can cause serious injury or death if used improperly or handled incorrectly.
Fuel flowing through a fuel nozzle can generate static electricity. This can cause a fire if fuel is pumped into an ungrounded fuel container.
Fuel may contain benzene; benzene is a carcinogen.
Always turn off the engine when refueling. Never bring sparks or open flames near the fuel filler neck valve.
Never smoke or use a cell phone while refueling. Fuel vapor is extremely dangerous under certain conditions. Avoid inhaling fuel vapors.
Observe the following guidelines when handling fuel:
- Extinguish smoking materials and open flames before refueling the vehicle.
- Turn off the vehicle before refueling.
- Fuel can be harmful or fatal if swallowed.
Fuel such as gasoline is highly toxic and can cause death or permanent damage if swallowed. If fuel is swallowed, call a doctor immediately, even if no symptoms are apparent. The toxic effects of the fuel may not appear for several hours.
Inhaling fuel vapor can cause an intolerance reaction, serious injury, or discomfort.
If fuel gets on your skin, wash the affected areas immediately with plenty of soap and water. Seek medical attention immediately if you experience an adverse reaction.Fuel quality
WARNINGS
Never mix gasoline with oil, diesel, or other fluids.
This can cause a chemical reaction.
Never use leaded gasoline or gasoline with metal-based additives (e.g., manganese-based). These can damage the exhaust system.
Use only unleaded gasoline conforming to EN 228 or an equivalent specification with a minimum octane rating of 95.
The vehicle can be operated with ethanol blends of up to 10% (E5 and E10).
Note: We recommend using only high-quality fuel. The use of third-party additives or other engine additives is not recommended.
Long-Term Storage
Most gasoline grades contain ethanol.
Before taking the vehicle out of service for more than two months, we recommend filling the fuel tank with ethanol-free gasoline. Alternatively, you can get advice from your Ford dealer.
Storage Location of the Fuel Funnel
The fuel funnel is stored in the spare wheel storage compartment.
