Doors and Locks. Keyless Entry

Keyless entry on the Ford Mustang (6th Gen) makes everyday driving considerably more convenient. The system automatically detects the key within range of the vehicle and allows intuitive opening and locking of the doors. Even in case of a technical failure, such as a flat battery, access is ensured by backup functions. The combination of technology and practicality underlines the well-thought-out security concept of the Mustang.

General Information

The system does not work in the following cases:

• The vehicle battery is discharged.
• The key battery is discharged.
• The transmitter frequency is being interfered with.

Note: If the system does not work, use the key blade to lock and unlock the vehicle. See Remote Control.

The system allows you to unlock, start and lock the vehicle without a key or remote control.

To passively unlock or lock the vehicle, a valid transmitter must be within one of the three external detection zones. These are located approximately 1.5 m (5 ft) from the front door handles and the trunk.

Note: The system may not work

if the passive key is near metallic objects or electronic devices, e.g. keys or a mobile phone.

Passive Key

You can lock and unlock your vehicle with the passive key. You can also use the passive key as a remote control to lock and unlock the vehicle. See Locking and Unlocking.

Locking the Vehicle

Note: The vehicle does not lock automatically. As long as you do not touch the locking sensor, your vehicle remains unlocked.

Touch the top of the door handle to lock your vehicle. The vehicle can only be unlocked again after a short time.

Note: Keep the door handle clean for the system to work properly.

Note: Your vehicle remains locked for approx. one second. After this time has elapsed, you can open the doors again, provided the passive key is within detection range.

When the vehicle is locked, the turn signals flash twice to confirm locking and arming of the alarm.

Unlocking the Vehicle

Pull a door handle to unlock and open the door. Do not touch the locking sensor on the front of the handle.

Note: A passive key must be within the detection zone

When the vehicle is unlocked, the turn signals flash once to confirm unlocking and disarming of the alarm.

Unlocking Only the Driver's Door

You can program the system so that only the driver's door is unlocked.

If the unlocking function has been reprogrammed so that only the driver's door is unlocked, the following occurs:

• If the driver's door is opened first, the passenger door remains locked. The passenger door can be unlocked from the inside by pressing the unlock button on the driver and passenger door trim panels. You can unlock the other doors individually by pulling their inside door handles.
• If the passenger door is opened first, the driver's door is also unlocked.

At the Trunk

Press the external unlock button, which is hidden above the license plate.

Note: A passive key must be within the detection zone.

Deactivated Passive Keys

Passive keys left inside the vehicle when it is locked will be deactivated.

You cannot switch on the ignition with a deactivated passive key.

You must activate passive keys before you can use them again. To activate all passive keys, unlock the vehicle with a valid passive key. Deactivated passive keys are reactivated when you switch on the ignition using a valid key.

Note: You can still start the vehicle if the passive key is in the backup position.

Locking and Unlocking the Doors with the Key Blade

Slide the release on the back of the remote control and rotate the cover away to access the key blade. See Remote Control.

Note: Only the driver's door has a lock cylinder.
