Adjusting Windshield Washer Nozzles

PROCEDURE

1. The spray direction of the wiper nozzles can be adjusted with a 0.8 mm needle. To do so, insert it into the nozzle and aim it at the mark on the glass. Service centers use a special tool, for example HAZET 4850-1.

CAUTION

If the spray cannot be adjusted or is uneven, the nozzle must be replaced.

2. The nozzles can be cleaned with compressed air. To do so, remove the nozzles and blow through the hose.

CAUTION

Do not blow through the nozzles against the direction of spray.

Windshield

PROCEDURE

1. Using a water-soluble marker, mark 4 points on the windshield where the spray must hit.

2. The adjustment dimensions are given in the accompanying illustration.

CAUTION

The dimensions given are measured from the side of the cowl panel –1– and from below the additional cover –2–. The dimensions are lead values for a moving vehicle. This means that the nozzles on a stationary vehicle spray slightly offset.

Rear window

PROCEDURE

1. Using a water-soluble marker, mark 4 points on the windshield where the spray must hit.

2. The adjustment dimension is given in the accompanying illustration.

CAUTION

The dimension is calculated for a direction at a right angle to the central axis of the wiper drive –1–.

3. Remove the cover –2– and adjust the nozzle. 3 – wiper blade, 4 – ceramic element.
