Major Body Damage Repair
PROCEDURE
1. Major body damage repair must be carried out at a specialized body shop that has the necessary equipment.
2. In the event of extensive body damage, first check whether any panel misalignment has occurred that could affect vehicle handling or cause accelerated wear of any components.
3. Since most body components (hood, fenders, etc.) are separate parts that can be replaced individually, replacing them in case of serious damage is often not advisable. It is usually much more reasonable and economical to find a suitable replacement part. Replacement parts can be obtained not only from auto parts stores but also from salvage yards, which can significantly reduce costs.
When Performing Welding Work
When performing welding or other work that generates heavy sparking near the battery, be sure to remove the battery.
Do not weld or solder air conditioning system components. This also applies to vehicle components whose welding may heat the air conditioning parts. When performing repair and paint work in a drying booth or in its heating zone, the temperature must not exceed +80°.
Connecting Units to the Body
CAUTION
To maintain a reliable ground connection and prevent corrosion damage, do not disconnect wires from the body. Disconnect wires only from the battery, engine, or transmission. Before connecting wires or ground straps, clean all connection points down to bare metal. Make sure ground bolted connections are tightened securely.
