Removal and Installation, Checking and Adjusting the Wiper Arm End Position

REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

1. Wet the windshield with water.

2. Run the wipers for approximately 2 minutes and stop them with the switch. The wipers will stop in the end position.

3. Disconnect the negative (–) battery cable with the ignition switched off.

CAUTION

As a result, information in the electronic memory modules, such as the radio code, will be erased. Without the code, the radio can only be activated by the manufacturer or an AUDI dealership. Therefore, refer to the section Entering the Radio Code.

4. Remove the wiper blades. Refer to the subsection Replacing Wiper Blade Rubber Inserts.

5. Remove the caps with a small screwdriver (arrows in the illustration).

6. Loosen the nuts located under them without removing them completely.

7. Release the arms by moving them slightly from side to side.

8. Remove the nuts completely and remove the arms.

INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE

1. Connect the negative (–) cable to the battery.

CAUTION

Enter the radio code, adjust the power windows, set the clock. Refer to the subsection Entering the Radio Code.

2. Stop the wiper motor in the end position. To do this, run the wipers briefly and stop them with the switch. This stops the wiper motor in the end position.

3. Install the blade on the arm and secure it.

4. Install the arm on the wiper shaft so that the dimensions shown in the illustration are obtained.

5. In this position, tighten the mounting nuts to 20 N·m.

6. Run the wipers in jog mode and check the blade position. If necessary, remove the arms again and reposition them.

7. Install the plastic caps on the mounting nuts.
