Center Console Removal and Installation

Center console electrical connectors 1 – driver seat heating 2 – rear window heating 3 – warning indicator 4 – front passenger seat heating 5 – radio 6 – cigarette lighter 7 – ashtray illumination 8 – diagnostic connector

REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the ashtray from the front.

2. Remove the screw -1-.

3. Disconnect the connector.

4. Remove the radio. Refer to Removal, Installation and Coding of Radio.

5. Remove the screws -1- of the trim -4-.

6. Remove the trim -4-.

7. Remove the glove box. Refer to Removal and Installation of Glove Box.

8. Remove the driver side shelf. Refer to Removal and Installation of Driver Side Pocket.

9. Remove the 4 screws -4- with spring clips -1-.

10. Remove the 2 screws -2-.

11. Pull the center console -3- slightly forward and disconnect the electrical wires.

12. Move the center console forward and remove it. INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE

1. Install the center console.

2. Connect the plug connections as shown in the illustration.

3. Position the center console in its operating position.

4. Tighten the screws -2- to 4 N·m.

5. Tighten the screws -4- to 4 N·m, do not forget the brackets.

CAUTION

When installing the center console, the spring clips -1- at the top must be vertical and at the bottom horizontal.

6. Install the driver side shelf. Refer to Removal and Installation of Driver Side Pocket.

7. Install the glove box. Refer to Removal and Installation of Glove Box.

8. Install the cover -4- and press it. The cover must latch into place.

9. Tighten the screws -1- to a low torque of 1.2 N·m.

10. Install the radio, refer to Radio Removal, Installation and Coding.

11. Install the ashtray from the front and insert the rubber holder -2- into the instrument panel.

12. Connect the cigarette lighter and ashtray illumination connectors.

13. Tighten the screws -1- to a low torque of 1.2 N·m.
