Electric Adjustment of Exterior Rear View Mirrors

Both mirrors are adjusted by the switch in the driver's door armrest. In addition, the mirror surfaces are heated when the rear window defroster is switched on. For more information on mirrors with manual adjustment, refer to the Body Elements chapter.

If the mirrors do not move when the adjustment is activated:

PROCEDURE

First, check the fuse.

Then remove the switch (see above in this chapter) and check it using the wiring diagram (also in this chapter).

If the switch is good, remove the mirror itself to access the adjustment motor connections (Body Elements chapter).

Is voltage present at the motor contacts with the ignition on and the switch pressed, and is the ground connection good?
If the answer is yes, the fault is only in the motor. It is not sold separately, only together with the mirror.

However, the mirror can be adjusted temporarily by hand.

If the mirror heating does not work, check the current path from the rear window defroster switch using the applicable wiring diagram.
