The stalk switches located behind the steering wheel are combined into one assembly in the Audi 80, and can therefore only be replaced as a complete unit. Removal procedure:

PROCEDURE

Remove the steering wheel (see Suspension and Steering). Work on the steering wheel of vehicles equipped with an airbag requires particular care.

Insert a Phillips screwdriver into the recess at the bottom right of the steering column trim and locate the screw.

Loosen the screw slightly, but do not remove it completely.

Pull out the component with the stalk switch.

Disconnect the multi-pin plugs and the single-pin connector.

If the switch needs to be replaced, remove the two screws in the lower part of the trim and remove the trim sections.
