Additional gauges

If additional gauges are installed, a pressure sensor (3) for the oil pressure gauge is fitted in place of the 0.3 bar oil pressure switch. The supply wire (2) and the oil pressure switch wire (1) are connected to it.

As optional equipment, three additional gauges can be installed in the center console: an oil pressure gauge, an oil temperature gauge and a voltmeter. To remove them, first remove the center console (refer to Body Interior).

PROCEDURE

Checking the oil pressure sensor and oil temperature sensor: disconnect the wire from the respective sensor (for the installation position, refer to the next section) and ground it to the body:
If the gauge needle does not deflect, the wiring or the gauge itself is faulty.

Otherwise, the sensor is the cause of the fault.

Checking the voltmeter: check the voltage at the voltmeter terminals.

Voltage is present but nothing is displayed: the voltmeter is faulty.

Installation position of the oil pressure sensor and oil temperature sensor
Models with 4-cylinder engine: both sensors are located on the left side of the engine, on the oil filter flange.

Models with 5-cylinder engine: the oil pressure sensor is located on the left side of the engine block, the oil temperature sensor is located at the front right, low on the engine. It is screwed in in place of the threaded plug for the oil pump pressure relief valve. Be careful when unscrewing: the plug is under spring tension. The position of the spring and valve plungers is critical!
Models with 6-cylinder engine: the oil pressure sensor is located at the front left, low on the engine block; the oil temperature sensor is located at the lower left on the end face of the engine. Due to poor accessibility, the sensor wires are joined by a plug connector at the rear of the left cylinder head. Wire colors in the plug connector: green-black to the oil temperature sensor; blue-white to the oil pressure sensor; white-gray to the 2.5 bar oil pressure switch; blue-black to the 0.3 bar oil pressure switch.
