Parking Brake Indicator

Troubleshooting

PROCEDURE

Lamp does not illuminate with the parking brake applied: check the fuse.

Remove and check the bulb.

If this does not resolve the problem, release the switch at the rear of the parking brake lever, disconnect the wire from the switch (at the rear, next to the lever), and connect the plug to bare metal.

If the lamp now illuminates, the switch is faulty.

Lamp does not go out with the parking brake released: disconnect the wire from the parking brake switch as described above, but leave the plug hanging free.

If the lamp goes out, the switch is faulty or incorrectly installed.

If it remains illuminated, the cable has chafed somewhere and is shorting to ground.
