Brake system warning lamp
When the ignition is switched on, the brake system warning lamp flashes as a function check; with the engine running, it should go out.
If it flashes for longer or lights up while driving, check the brake fluid level immediately (refer to Brake System). A leak and failure of one brake circuit may have occurred, which can also be noticed by increased brake pedal travel (see Brake System for details).
Brake system warning lamp troubleshooting
PROCEDURE
Checking the lamp: refer to the "Checking the lamp" text in the coolant warning lamp troubleshooting section.
If the lamp flashes with the engine running, although the brake fluid level in the reservoir is above the "min" mark, try disconnecting the connector from the brake fluid level sensor in the reservoir.
If the lamp goes out, the sensor in the reservoir is faulty: replace the reservoir.
