Coolant temperature gauge

~1min read

The gauge shows the engine coolant temperature. During normal engine operation, the needle should be in the middle range of the scale. Under severe operating conditions, such as very hot weather or prolonged driving uphill, the needle may rise to the red mark at the top of the scale. If the engine temperature rises so that the needle is in the red zone, pull over immediately and stop the vehicle. To check the cooling system and determine the causes of engine overheating, follow the instructions and warnings on page 460 (for gasoline engine versions) and page 462 (for diesel engine versions).
